It’s fair to say that a college football player has different nutritional needs from those of a high school football player; a long-distance runner will eat a diet different from that of a hockey player; a swimmer requires different protein intake from a diver. While these seem like obvious differences because of the sizes of the athletes and the sports they are playing, other factors also influence the amount of protein and other nutrients an athlete needs.
Diet significantly influences athletic performance. What you eat right before an event can be critical; while the “right choices” can give you that competitive edge, the “wrong choices” can be detrimental.
Practice makes perfect– healthy eating cannot just be right before a big event. You need to fuel your body with the appropriate nutrients every day—to allow for proper growth, focus in school, and energy for practices.
